Alimento is a very good, high end food store with an in house cafe. Think of it as a really boutique-y Pusateri's. However, unlike Pusateri's, at Alimento all the food is Italian. I don't mean style-wise, I mean that it's legitimate, authentic, Italian food from the motherland... and it's delicious.
The well designed and lofty store-cum-eatery (steatery? eaterore?) has a cool brick and beam finish, bright, inviting lighting, and a thirty foot long solid marble bar. It has classic fancy Italian design and feels very authentic.
When I was there, I tried the green pea soup, which was great in its simplicity. I also enjoyed their fusili and their coffee. The food was fresh and tasty legitimate Italian fare and came in generous lunchtime portions. Furthermore, the prices were very fair, and the service was good, if a little slow. It wasn't a quick lunch, but it was a tasty one. Consider Alimento recommended.
