Rose & Sons
Rose & Sons only just took over the old People’s Diner space in the Annex, but I’ve already grown to love them and their delicious comfort food. Of course, no one was expecting any less from the head chef of …(Rose & Sons continued…)

I am perfectly fine with admitting that despite being a foodie, I’m no sushi aficionado. I like sushi and Japanese food in general, but I’m not too adventurous with it. I enjoy the basic dishes done well — and that’s why I go to Asuka in Yorkville.
Now, when I say "Yorkville," a lot of people will think that Asuka is going to be a fancy, expensive restaurant. That’s not the case at all. I actually find that, considering the amount of people who go to Yorkville for food, there aren’t that many great restaurants. Luckily, Asuka is there to right the wrong.
Asuka is the classic go-to neighbourhood sushi joint. The restaurant only takes up a small amount of space in a downstairs venue with truly awful and outdated decor, but the food is just amazing.
The restaurant’s resident sushi master, Sato, keeps Asuka busy every night with his delicious and deservedly well known spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls (my personal favourite). He delivers every time with fresh, tasty sushi for good value — especially considering the location.
Asuka is known and loved in the neighbourhood. If you, like me, find the horrible decor to be a little endearing and are hankering for some sushi in Yorkville, there’s really no better place to go.

We prefer Sushi Inn in Yorkville, best in the area hands down.
I have always liked Asuka the best but maybe its time I gave Sushi Inn another shot.
