Joso’s is a high-end Mediterranean fish joint in Yorkville that I like for two reasons: the incredible food and the unique atmosphere.

Whether you order the platter of fresh fish that changes daily, the Joso salad, or the fried calamari (all favourites of mine, by the way), you’re sure to be blown away. Joso’s is seriously committed to providing excellent, succulent, flavourful fish. If you’re one for more conservative dishes, I would recommend their excellent tuna, but if you want to try something you won’t find in many other restaurants, their scorpion fish is an experience as well.

The atmosphere is almost as good as the food, which is saying a lot. Summed up, it is unique and cool. There are two floors and of them, I would recommend the upstairs, but no matter where you sit, you’ll be surrounded by art depicting nude women all over the walls. The owner is an artist, so it’s done in good taste, but it still isn’t something you see in restaurants everyday.

Joso’s is a great place to enjoy gourmet fish, but be warned: it is very expensive. However, it isn’t pretentious. The all-female wait staff are helpful and informative, and as I’ve said, the fish can’t be beat. If you like seafood, it’s a place you should definitely peruse.

    Hi David,

I have to agree! Joso’s is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. What are some of your other favourites?

    Thanks,

    Jamie
