If you’ve read my other reviews, you’ll know that I love Italian food, and in particular, pizza — especially Neapolitan style. When I saw the St Clair West pizzeria, Pizza e Pazzi, advertising their ‘Certified Napoli’ pizza, I had to check them out.

I went for lunch a few weeks ago and was sorely disappointed. It took 45 minutes for the pizza to arrive, the decor looked like a quickie renovation, and the pizza wasn’t even that spectacular. The dough was good, but the ingredients were nothing to shout about. ‘Fine’ is probably the best way to describe it.

The best part of the fairly mediocre outing had to be the genial server, but even he looked out of his element, making for some awkwardness. The bill didn’t help matters either. For such a letdown, the pizza was more expensive than I expected.

Even though Pizza e Pazzi is easier to get to than Libretto or Queen Margherita, it’s actually worth it to get in your car and drive to a great pie from either of these other vendors. Pizza e Pazzi, in short, just doesn’t match up to its competition.

    Hi Danny,
I found the regular menu to be a little pricey for the type & quality of the cuisine in comparison to like restaurants. I was not aware of the $10 buffet however. Thanks for the tip!

Decided to go for dinner because of the positive Toronto Life review. Boy did they get it wrong. I had the antipasto and Pizza ‘nduja. My companion had the seafood scialatielli. We waited for almost 20 minutes for the antipasto to arrive which is unacceptable for a dish that needs no cooking. It finally came, and was just a pile of meat and cheese, with no accompanying olives or marinated vegetable to cut the oiliness of the meats. Then, before we finished the antipasto, the server brought my companions scialatielli. Two of the clams were closed, and when my companion asked for more mussels instead, the server merely said it was supposed to be that way, and brought it to the kitchen to pry them open. The pasta was also undercooked (not just al dente) and the server said that’s how they do it. He didn’t offer any consolations. Then my pizza arrived. It was mostly a mound of doughy crust, too-acidic sauce, and gloupy cheese. There was hardly any ‘nduja (which the sever even pronounced wrong) and it was soggy. The only redeeming factor was a different server who offered us desert and coffee on him, which we politely declined. Toronto Life stated that the pizza was on par with Libretto or Queen Margherita, but it was even close. The menu was typical Italian fare, nothing special. Too bad, it would have been nice to have a place like Libretto or QM so close to my home.

Met my boyfriend on a trip to Italy with friends.. And loved the food there.. Came back to Toronto and he came with me ended up having an amazing time last week.. Went for dinner and got engaged!!!.. The staff knew the entire time.. The service was amazing I had no clue what he was planning.. He ordered me a tasty glass of red wine and we started our dinner with some delicious bread with walnuts in it… So Good!! The entire meal was amazing (my pizza his pasta) once I got to dessert… There it was a ring in the middle of my dessert pizza with all the staff and customers waiting for my answer… How Amazing is that!! I will forever be thankful to Pizza e Pazzi for reminding me how me and m soon to be husband came to be falling in love with food
