The City of Toronto is on the top of the list of Canadian cities with the most environmentally friendly beaches - almost all of its swimming beaches passed with the internationally recognized eco-award, Blue Flag! A favourite spot for the whole family, people flock to these sandy oases for recreation not just during the summer.

1. Colonel Samuel Smith Beach

This beach is just a few miles South from Downtown Toronto and is enjoyed by the locals who prefer less crowded places away from the big city. In fact, you will still feel close enough - from some point you'll get a perfect view of the whole Downtown with the iconic CN Tower and Toronto skyscrapers! A former getaway station for Victorian Torontonians, there is a lot to do on the beach or in the large Colonel Samuel Smith Park - scenic hiking trail, access to Lake Ontario,  kid's playgrounds, picnic grounds or birdwatching near the waterfront are just a few to be mentioned.

One of the most popular waterfront entertainment spots is located on the east side of the "Old" City of Toronto, starting from Coxwell east to Victoria Park. The Beaches offer several kilometers of boardwalk lined by beautiful sandy beaches. If you're a sports fan or just like to live an active life, this is the perfect spot for you! Many volleyball grounds, pathways for roller skates, facilities renting gear for water sports; this vibrant community has been a great summer resort for a while. A portion of the Martin Goodman Trail bike path runs parallel to the boardwalk. Do you like challenge? Get registered for the Heatwave Volleyball Tournament!
